While collagen is known for its beauty providing effects, it is also very effective for joint and bone health. As we age, most people are concerned about two major health issues: Osteoarthritis and loss of bone mass (osteopenia). Both of these are leading causes of disability. There is a growing body of evidence that collagen peptide can promote bone and joint health. In 2001, Illizuno and Kuboki demonstrated that the endogenous production of collagen by bone cells is stimulated by collagen peptides. It was again confirmed in 2010 that collagen peptides improve bone metabolism and biochemical properties.

It was also demonstrated in 2003 by Oesser, S. (Cell Tissue Res. 311:393-399) that the ingestion of collagen peptides may stimulate the endogenous production of collagen providing a pool of amino acids and peptides useful for collagen synthesis by the chondrocytes (cartilage cells).

Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid (HA) are two keys to beautiful skin, hair and nails. Collagen is the primary support structure of the skin, helping keep it firm and elastic. Collagen is a complex structural protein that maintains strength and flexibility of skin, ligaments, bones, joints, muscles, tendons, gums, teeth, eyes, blood vessels, nails and hair.

Beyond the age of 30, collagen production slows down within the body by nearly 1/3 and after the age of sixty our body produces barely half as much collagen as it did when we were younger.

Our Ageless Beauty™ product contains two special collagens. Type I and Type III. When we are younger, our body contains a combination of Type I and III. As children, our skin is rich in Type III collagen, accounting for its soft and suppleness. Type III collagen grows very slow and with time. Type I begins to build up (until the age of 35) when our skin reaches its peak strength and health. After age 35, Type I (the predominant collagen) levels begin to decline at approximately 10% each year. Type III declines more rapidly with little found in aged skin.

Hydrolyzed fish collagen (Type I) Our Ageless Beauty™ fish collagen is produced from the skins of deep water, kosher fish (Cod, Haddock, Pollock and Hack (the generic term for these is white fish). Our collagen is hydrolyzed with a food grade enzyme to further break down the molecular weight. Most collagen has very high molecular weight (300,000 Daltons, or larger). Our special collagen has the molecular weight reduced to approximately 3,000 Daltons making it more bio available, absorbable, water soluble, and with virtually no taste. In addition it contains a high protein content of a minimum of 91% - 95%. No genetically modified materials are used in the production of our collagen.

Hydrolyzed Collagen Type III This is 100% pure pharmaceutical food grade bovine collagen. Type III is the second most abundant collagen in human tissue exhibiting elastic properties such as skin, blood vessels, and various internal organs such as intestines, liver, kidney, lungs, spleen and uterus. Type III declines very fast after age 30 and is severely reduced in photo damaged skin. The consists of approximately 45% type III collagen and the human lung as much as 21% Type III. Mutations of Type III Collagen cause the most sever form of Ehlers-Dantes Syndrome, which effect arteries, joints and skin and may cause sudden death when large arteries rupture. Together Type I and Type III make up approximately 30% of the total protein of the body and 70% of the protein that makes up the skin.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid ( also known as HA and Hyaluron) has been widely used in the cosmetics industry as a natural moisturizing factor. This is due to its likeliness as a molecular sponge capable of retaining water up to a thousand times its own weight.
